Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a moose hunting permit to hunt in Maine?

Yes. Maine operates a lottery system for moose hunting permits. Applications are typically due in May, with the drawing held in June. If you win a permit, you can hunt with us. We also offer lodge tag hunts (allocated to outfitters) that don't require winning the lottery β€” contact us for availability.

What is included in the $7,000 guided hunt?

Our guided hunt includes a 6-day hunt for the permit holder plus one sub-permittee (2 hunters, 1 moose), one-on-one guide service, comfortable remote wall tent camp, all meals prepared in camp, private tent accommodations, mobile Starlink internet at camp, and field care of your harvested moose. The moose hunting license ($585 resident or non-resident), lottery application fee ($15), and transportation to camp are not included.

Where exactly do you hunt moose in Maine?

We hunt in Wildlife Management Districts (WMDs) 1 through 11 in northern Maine. These zones have the largest moose populations in the state and offer the best hunting opportunities. Our camps are located in remote areas within these districts, accessed by drive-to locations from logging roads.

When is the best time to hunt moose in Maine?

The Maine moose hunting season runs in September and October, which coincides with the rut (breeding season). September is typically bull-only, while October offers either-sex permits. Both months provide excellent hunting as bull moose are responsive to calling during the rut. We'll help you choose the best dates for your hunt.

What kind of physical condition do I need to be in?

Our hunts are conducted from remote drive-to wall tent camps. While you don't need to be an elite athlete, you should be in reasonable physical condition. Expect to walk on uneven terrain, navigate through woods and clear-cuts, and potentially help with retrieval. We can accommodate varying fitness levels β€” just let us know your situation when booking.

How do I book a hunt and what's the deposit?

Contact Dave Conley or Andrew Gibbs directly to discuss availability and your preferred dates. We require a deposit to secure your hunt dates, with the balance due before the hunt begins. Because we only take a limited number of hunters each season, we recommend reaching out early. Visit our Contact page to get in touch.
